FAQ
When will my order ship?
Our candles are made to order and hand-poured in our studio in small batches of 15-20 at a time. Please allow 3-5 business days for order processing.
I am new to Soy Wax. What is it and what makes it better than the Paraffin wax candles I already own?
Our Soy Wax is proudly grown and harvested by American soybean farmers. Derived from the oil of soybeans, the soy wax has a higher melting point than paraffin wax, thus creating a long-lasting burn. Its eco-friendly components contain zero toxins and releases no petrol-carbon soot like paraffin.
What are your candles made of?
Vela Bougie candles are made with the highest quality ingredients – 100% soy wax, premium fragrances or essential oils and cotton wicks.
I have removed all of the shipping contents and I am ready to burn the candle. What do I do now?
Great! Be sure to place candle on an even and heat resistance surface. We have trimmed the wicks to a ¼” prior to packaging, so they are ready for you to add the flame. Use care at all times - never leave candle burning unattended.
How long should I burn each candle?
Burn until wax melts all the way to edge of glassware (approx. 3-4 hours) or travel tin (approx. 1-2 hours). This creates candle “memory”. The candle remembers where it last burned and will continue burning in this pattern. Blowing out prematurely will result in candle burning unevenly - causing “pooling” around wick which drowns out flame over time.
I burned my candle for a few hours and I can see “mushrooms” developing on top of the wick. What should I do?
“Mushrooming” is a natural occurrence with cotton wicks and it lets you know that it is time to extinguish the flame. The mushroom formed is carbon build up from the fire as it consumes more wick than wax. Gently blow out flame, allow wick and wax to cool, then trim wick.
